Who is not fond of remembering childhood days? Everybody. I am no exception to this. Whenever I am cast in “vacant or pensive mood”, my “fond memory brings the light of other days around me”. Whenever I journey down my memory lane, things, sweet and sad, “flash upon my inward eye” and fills my heart with nostalgia. The memory of my grandmother taking me on her lap and telling me fairy tales from ‘The Arabian Nights’ is still fresh in my mind. And oh the memory of my first day at school! It frequents my mind and fills my heart with intense joy. Like Apu of ‘Pather Panchali’ by Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay, I thought that only naughty boys went to school. I was so nervous that my parents led me to the school. How can I forget my fifth birthday? My father presented me with a tri-cycle to my great happiness on the eventful day. In my leisure I still look back to my happy, carefree and golden childhood and feel the “bliss of solitude” “chewing the cud of by-gone days”.
